Heybridge Basin Regatta has been running for over 150 years and is a great day our for all the family.
This year’s event takes place on Saturday 6th July and kicks off with the lighting of the BBQ at 11am. Come and get your bacon sarnie for a good start to the day!
Entries for the cake, flower arranging and photographic competitions need to be in the marquee by 1pm, as judging will start at 2pm. Also, our flower release will be at 4pm, which is to remember all those that have passed in the village over the past year.
Children who would like to enter the colouring competition can colour in their entry in the marquee between 9.30am and 1pm. While the children colour, parents can browse the stalls in the marquee.
Sailing events start at 2:30pm, with the dinghies, followed by the smacks, then the rigged yachts. Rowing races start immediately after the sailing. The very competitive children's crabbing competition starts at midday, followed by the equally competitive pillow fight at 4:30/5pm, plus stands in the marquee to spend some pennies at.
Prize giving for the crabbing and all marquee competitions will take place in the marquee at 4pm to 4:30pm, together with the raffle draw. Prize giving for all other events will be at 7pm.
Sunday events start with the children's scavenger hunt at 10:30am, followed by a children’s entertainer and music by Argy Bargy in the marquee.
This is followed by welly wanging, coconut shy, wet sponges, and a fun raft race at 5pm. The day will finish with our infamous flour battle on the beach.
