Community Agents
Many of you will have known Brenda Smith, the former Village Agent in this area. Brenda has now retired and we have had a reshuffle, and I am your new agent. I live locally in Radley Green, have worked as an Agent for the last 5 years but in a different locality and hope I am a worthy replacement!
As well as this change, our whole service has undergone a bit of transformation. Village Agents are no more, and Community Agents Essex is here.
The service follows on from the success of Village Agents and is now a countywide network of agents and volunteers who support vulnerable older people and informal carers across Essex.
We do this by promoting health and independence, reducing social isolation and helping to find practical solutions to daily living challenges faced by people in both rural and urban areas.
A partnership of four Voluntary and Community organisations - Rural Community Council of Essex, British Red Cross, Age UK Essex and Essex Neighbourhood Watch - has come together with Essex County Council to develop this targeted countywide solution to supporting older people to remain independent for as long as possible.
Community Agents will work with individuals to help them find/develop their own solutions to their issues from within their own networks/community.
