Buses:

From April 10th 2016 bus services serving Langley will be replaced by a demand response service DaRT1 provided by Arrow Taxis (Essex) Limited. Demand Responsive Transport (DaRT) is an alternative way of providing access to key services in rural areas. Instead of using fixed routes with fixed times, DaRT customers book journeys with the operator in advance and are picked up from an agreed point - often their own home, a bus stop of local place of interest.  Your can use it: to go shopping, attend a health appointment, get to/from work, school or college, visit friends. DaRT 1 operates between 0600 and 2000 hours Monday to Saturday.  Unlike a bus service there is no set timetable. To book a journey telephone Arrow Taxis Essed Ltd. on 01621 874 411 and explain where you would like to go, where you would like to be collected from, what time you need to go (please give at least 2 hours notice before travelling). The operator will also need to know: your name, your telephone number and any specific requirements, such as if you are a wheelchair user or your have difficulty walking.  Costs vary depending on age and distance:  Adult: Less than 2 miles Single £2.50 Return £3.50; Between 2 and 5 miles Single £4.50 Return £6.50; More than 5 miles Single £5.50 Return £8.00.  Child (age 5 to 15) Less than 2 miles Single £1.50 Return £2.00; Between 2 and 5 miles Single £2.50 Return £3.50; More than 5 miles Single £3.00 Return £4.50.  Concessionary bus pass holders can travel for free after 0900 Monday to Friday and all day Saturday.  You can pay either by cash or debit card over the phone.  You can travel anywhere within the parishes listed below, between these parishes and also direct to Saffron Walden town, Bishop's Storford town, healthcare facilites in Royston & Barley, Essex & Herts Hospital as well as the closest train station.  The following parishes are included with DaRT1: Arkesden, Berden, Chrishall, Clavering, Elmdon, Farnham, Langley, Littlebury, Manuden, Quendon and Rickling (areas not directly served by 301), Strehall, Wenden Lofts & Wicken Bonhunt.

Until April 10th 2016 there is a bus service from Langley to Saffron Walden daily.  There is also a new service known as 'SB13 Saffron Walden Shopper Service' operating on Tuesdays and Fridays.  This links Langley UG at 11.05am, Langley LG at 11.10am with SW High Street (11.50am).  Return is 2.25pm from SW High Street.  The bus covers other villages en route and will stop to pick up - 'Hail & Ride'.  Also goes to Tesco.  Details from www.essex.gov.uk/publictransport or 0845 603 7631.
