The Parish Council (PC) is invited to comment on planning applications made to Uttlesford District Council (UDC). The PC’s comments will generally relate to:
- Is the proposed development appropriate in Margaret Roding?
- Will the development cause harm or nuisance to the environment, village life or neighbours?
- Is the development in keeping with the character of the village including appearance, scale and street scene?
Planning matters are complex especially in our small village where some properties are listed or in the Green Belt. It is wise to seek advice, either from a professional or UDC planning department (01799 510510). Some help is provided on UDC’s website (www.uttlesford.gov.uk/planning) and the Government’s Planning Portal website (www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/house). The General Permitted Development Order, Part 1, Class A which was amended in May 2013 may help to guide on what extensions etc. are permitted without the need to seek formal approval. This Order is likely to be revised in 2016.
