Church tours for Heritage Open Days

Mundon Church is one of the attractions for Heritage Open Days (HODS) usually held each year on a Saturday and Sunday during September.  The church opens all day as usual, but tours take place during this event. Access to the church is via a footpath at the end of Vicarage Lane, nearest postcode CM9 6PA. The path is a vehicular access to fields for farm vehicles.  Limited parking is allowed, courtesy of the land owner.  There are steps within the church and stout shoes are recommended as the ground is uneven. http://www.visitmaldon.co.uk/events/heritage-days.php.

Care of Mundon Redundant Church

Mundon church is classified by the Church Commission as a redundant church and here have been no regular services since the 1950s. However, the church is still consecrated and in terms of spiritual space it is far from redundant and has a specialness held dear to the hearts of those who are captivated by its charm.

Its care is the responsibility of The Friends of Friendless Churches.

Hon. Sec Matthew Saunders MBE  pays tribute to those who keep the church welcoming to visitors:  Members of Blackwater Flower Arranging Club for the floral arrangements, Mr Paton for keeping the grounds mown and strimmed , Tony Scarborough for keeping the windows clean and local Mundon people including Christine McDonald for generally keeping an eye on the church and being the Mundon link with the Friends of Friendless Churches.  For general enquires about the church and to arrange tours, please contact Christine McDonald preferably by email: northey.christine@virgin.net or telephone 01621 740920, Mobile 07504 751667.
