The main responsibilities of the Parish Council are street lighting, benches, litter bins, litter, grass cutting and other open public places, plus the maintenance of the Parish Emergency Plan.
The Parish Council also has the right to comment on Planning Applications, which are retained by the Parish Clerk and are available for viewing upon request or via the 'Planning' link on the left hand side of this page.

Message received on 30th January from Cllr Howard Rolfe
I met with Essex Highways, Uttlesford Planning and Newport Parish Council last Friday to discuss the unacceptable condition in Whiteditch Lane, in particular the road surface, the drainage system and pedestrian safety.
In addition we discussed the parking situation on Bury Water Lane and School Lane. Good progress was made on each of the projects and I look forward to updating you with further news.
Whilst Uttlesford does not have responsibility for Highways we are the Planning Authority and are very keen to resolve the current problems.
