The Polish Saturday School or Polska Sobotnia Szkola is a non-profit making association based in Southend-on-Sea in Essex. In our Polish School, we teach the Polish language, Polish culture and Polish History. We also teach dancing, drama ans singing, mostly from Polish Culture.
The Polish School lessons are available to students of all ages and many families come from all over from Mid and Southern Essex.
Some students were born in Poland and their first language is Polish, others were born in Great Britain and wish to acquaint themselves with the language and culture of their parents' and grandparents' home country.
The Polish Saturday School also has an ESOL English Language class for Polish speaking parents.
The idea of the Polish Saturday School in Southend-on-Sea is not only to teach language and other subjects to children, but it aims to bring together the Polish Community of our region.
The Polish Saturday School is located in the Southend Adult Community College (SACC) in Ambleside Drive in Southend-on-Sea, nearly opposite "Southend East" railway station on the C2C Line from London - Fenchurch Station in the City of London. Southend-on-Sea is an English seaside town twinned with the Polish seaside resort of Sopot near Gdansk. Southend-on-Sea is located in the southeast of England, about 65 kilometres (40 miles) from London.
The Polish Saturday School in Southend-on-Sea invites all children and parents to join us. If your children are not speaking Polish - we can teach them, and if your children can speak Polish - we will substantiate and reinforce your children's language skills and many students reach GCSE level to prepare them for A Levels.
Parents are very welcome to learn at the same time as their children. During the time that children are in class, parents can sit in the college cafe and attend formal English Language classes conducted by qualified teachers. Or, they can talk, drink coffee and swap ideas and information.
We cater for all ages between 5 & 16 years. Classes are divided into 3 groups :
The First Group is for Pre-school - Learning : basic speaking, reading and writing in the Polish Language.
The Second Group is for Early Improvers - Learning : speaking, reading and writing in Polish.
The Third Group is Intermediate - learning Polish literature and grammar.
Should you wish your child to study and prepare for GCSE, AS Level and A Level exams in the Polish Language, please contact the school's director.
