We are the South Woodham Ferrers Station Adopters, a group of volunteers dedicated to improving the environment around our station. Our job is to keep the station looking nice in any way we can. That may include vandalism that needs rectifying etc.
In the summertime our job includes tending the flower tubs on the platform, the garden which is towards the London end of the station and the green areas bordering the entrance. We also sweep up and litter pick the whole area including the car park. In winter we concentrate more on the litter.
We are a small, friendly bunch who meet up at 10 o’clock every Sunday morning for an hour or two. Tools are provided but anyone joining us should bring their own gloves. A High Vis garment will be provided. We don't usually bother with refreshments except on very hot days when the advice is to bring a bottle of water with you.
Additionally, every so often we may be asked for help in manning stalls at events such as country shows or the Santa Train, and we try to help with those if we can. If you are able to help even on an occasional basis pop down to South Woodham station one Sunday morning and join us, you will be very welcome.
