Next steps

Most local authorities and organizations are aware of the Hundred Parishes initiative and the concept has been widely welcomed.  In June 2012 we held a constitutional conference, at which representatives from many of these bodies supported specific proposals for the establishment of The Hundred Parishes Society.  Proposals considered and approved at the conference are available from the Our Files section of this website.  Creation of the Society has encouraged more volunteers to join our team.

The Society's aims are entirely charitable, and this has been recognised by HM Revenue & Customs and the Charity Commission.

This website is not aimed at the general public, but at those who are interested or involved in delivering the Hundred Parishes vision.

The Society has now been launched to the public, seeking membership from local residents and organisations, especially through the Society's website, www.hundredparishes.org.uk .  That new website includes a series of walks from railway stations and a brief introduction to each of our 100 parishes, with links to further information.

In order to ensure that the area's special characteristics are preserved, we would like the Hundred Parishes to be recognised and afforded appropriate protection within local planning policies.

There are clearly many opportunities to get involved!
