JOYCE CRABBE

Born and brought up in the countryside near Downham Market in Norfolk, I attended

the local Grammar School where I began to develop a passionate and life-long

interest in the visual arts.  I am a self-taught artist now living in Saffron Walden and a

member of the Saffron Walden Art Society.

I have spent many years exploring and developing my work, always seeking to push forward into the abstract, which I find both challenging and satisfying.

I am interested in the use of colour, line and shape to set up tensions, juxtapositions, harmonies and balances.   Prompted by visual experiences, memory and imagination, I create work to reflect the energy and pulse beyond the surface,  leaving the viewer free to participate in the creating process by forming their own response to the image.
