Most crime is carried out by opportunist offenders, looking for easy pickings. One of the aims of the Essex Eye is to offer advice on how you to avoid becoming a victim of such crime.

The site contains very little original material but instead brings together advice published on the Internet and elsewhere.

The site makes full use of social media, especially “Twitter”, which is fast becoming the most effective way of keeping abreast of the latest information. Essex Police, Action Fraud and many others now use this media, to keep the public up to date with advice and appeals for help. Throughout the site you will find “Twitter Timelines” embedded into our Web pages, this ensures that the latest news and advice is always available.

(For those of you not familiar with "Twitter" an explanation is given at http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Twitter ).

As well as general advice, the Essex Eye provides you with up to date statistics on crime in your area. News about neighbourhood crime reduction initiatives and links to Neighbourhood Watch schemes etc.

The Essex Eye is constantly under development, introducing new pages and updating existing ones. The best way to be kept advised of changes is to follow us on “Twitter”.

The site and its administration is entirely voluntary and independent and tries to provide straightforward advice with the occasional touch of humour.
