Transition Town
-
The Transition Town movement has come to Manningtree. It works to prepare local communities for 'peak oil' (the moment, coming sooner than you might like, when the oil runs out) and climate change. The idea is to strengthen local business, community and transport and distribution networks, before carbon costs rise so high that our current lifestyle becomes unviable. They've already set up a great food swap: coming soon are toy and book swaps, and film screenings.
