East Hanningfield is lucky to have a very active NhW organisation. Most of the streets in the village have a NhW coordinator and the NhW team works closely with the local police.

As part of helping to make our village safer from crime it provides information on measures you can take to avoid becoming a victim of crime, in the Village Newsletter (East Hanningfield News), via this website and by sending e-mail crime alerts and reminders to residents about specific issues such bogus callers, suspect telephone calls, burglaries in the area, suspicious vehicle movements etc.

The team also provides NhW stickers for doors and windows, a property marking kit for residents’ use, and maintains the NhW road signs in the village.

If you are a local resident and would like to receive e-mail alerts about local crime issues, or need advice, or would like to know more about the NhW organisation is contact the East Hanningfield NHW Acting Chairman, Mike Plumridge on 400628, or email  NHWEastHanningfield@outlook.com  .  If you want to contact the police there are a variety of ways depending on subject and urgency:

Police 24/7 non-emergency number: 101.

Police Local Station (South Woodham Ferrers): 101.

EAST HANNINGFIELD NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

Neighbourhood Watch is a national organisation, fully supported by the Home Office and the Local Government Association.

Within the national organisation are numerous countywide, district and local associations, working together to

·        cut crime and the opportunities for crime and anti -social behaviour

·        provide reassurance to local residents

·        reduce the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.

Within the East Hanningfield Neighbourhood Watch, there is a team of seventeen residents who act as street co-ordinators, helping to bring together members of the local community for the benefit of all, thereby improving the quality of life for those who live and work in the village.

They work in close partnership with Essex Police, the local authority and other agencies, sharing information and advice directly aimed at reducing crime and disorder.

Regular meetings are held in order to co-ordinate local activity and ensure the provision of helpful information to residents throughout the village, including action to be taken in the event of an actual or suspected crime.

Advice and assistance is also readily available from the Chairman, Geoff Dickman - Tel: 07968 112 179,

e-mail: geoff.h.dickman@gmail.com or via members of the team.
