East Hanningfield 1922 - Maps

The 1922 Ordnance Survey Map is now out of copyright. With a scale of roughly 25 inches to the mile it is highly detailed, and therefore an excellent source for local history research.

The full maps of the parish show field boundaries that had been in existence for centuries. The extracts available here concentrate on the built up area and some of the farms. They show the following areas:

The Common and North end of the Tye;

Common Farm, Salesfrith Farm & South Gibcracks;

Hill Farm and cottages with part of Pan Lane;

East Hanningfield Hall & Lodge Farm;

Claydons Farm with part of Back Lane;

Great Claydons with part of Chelmsford Road; and

the Southern end of the village.
