NEIGHBOURHOOD PLANNING

In his ministerial statement, the Rt Hon Mr Eric Pickles MP stated that 'Localised planning enables councils to make the development choices that work for them; choices that are right for their communities and respond to the needs of the local area rather than to arbitrary top-down targets. This presents a far better deal for local people'.

Communities now have the right to produce a Neighbourhood Plan, setting out policies on the development and use of land in a parish or neighbourhood area. The Neighbourhood Plan will show how the level of growth identified in the Core Strategy/Local Plan is to be met or exceeded. Once the plan is made, it will become part of the local authority development plan, a statutory plan against which planning applications will be judged.

For the past 18 months, the Parish of Moreton, Bobbingworth and the Lavers have been working hard to create their own Neighbourhood Plan, thereby ensuring the decisions made for the future of the parish and its residents are based on the choices and views of those who live and work here.
