Club rules

ALL MEMBERS MUST READ FULL RULES BEFORE APPLYING FOR MEMBERSHIP, ALSO AVAILABLE AT SIGNING UP EVENINGS AND AT POOLSIDE.

'SWCHS PTA and friends' Family Swimming Club accept no responsibility for the loss or damage of any personal belongings by members or visitors of the pool.

Members use the pool at their own risk, the club cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury to individuals that arise from the use of this pool.

Please enter and exit the pool via the steps, this is an old pool and the sides of the pool under the water are rough and will scrape knees and toes.

The school asks that, as the changing rooms are out of the vision of the supervising adult or lifeguards, you accompany your children to and from the changing rooms.

Please be aware that year 7 children and above, who use the pool unaccompanied, will not be supervised in the changing rooms.

Supervisors and lifeguards must be vigilant at all times - no reading or chatting. Supervisors must not bring young children with them.

Supervisors should be postioned at the gate, facing the pool, but also within sight of the doors leading to the changing rooms, but the school cannot guarentee safety in the changing rooms.

Minimum of one supervisor and two lifeguards (inc ONE FIRST AIDER) at every session, otherwise POOL WILL CLOSE.

Qualified lifeguards are on duty, however, it is the parents responsibilty to watch their own children, therefore must be dressed appropriately to enter the water to assist them. Ensure all attending parents of children under the age of 8 are ready and able to do so (ie not sitting in jeans and woolly jumper, chatting, with their back to the pool).  (You think this doesn't happen?)

For allocation of tennis courts please follow rules in pool side book. The club has priority over members of the public who may be playing casually (in fact they have no right to be there), but  other paying sports centre customers or tennis clubs have priority. Please sign in poolside when you arrive. After you open the tennis courts the key must be held by the supervisor.

Swim nappies, or similar, to be worn if necessary.

Supervising duties
All supervisor duties must be honoured, even in the event of bad weather. Even in downpours you must turn up/stay for the whole session.

Supervisors must have read and agreed to carry out their duties as listed on the 'supervisors role'.

In the event of your being unable to attend a sitting.
Rearranging duties is the member's responsibility - please do not just fail to turn up and do not ask a committee member to do it for you, or to find you a replacement.
Find someone to change with by referring to the rota.

Life guard’s and supervisor’s decisions are final.
All members & visitors must sign in and visitors pay £2.

Swimming club committee and the school caretaker reserve the right to close the pool or change opening dates and times without notice.
The committee will endeavour to post any news about closures on this website. (If you sign up to the website you will be emailed).

Copies of all relevant documentation is kept at pool side. All members should read the Normal and Emergency Operating Procedures and familiarise themselves with the layout of the pool.
