CFC Shalford Football Club CFC Shalford

Formed in 1985 by a group of cricketers from Braintree Cricket Club who wanted to keep fit during the winter, ‘CFC’ stands for Cricket Football Club. The club progressed from Division 4 of the Braintree & North Essex Sunday League to the Premier Division in successive seasons during the first four years.

The club has always played its games at The Village Hall and over the years have had several players from within Shalford and the local villages. Recently the club and SVHMC have worked together to obtain grant funding and have both halved the costs on various other projects for the up keep and maintenance of the pitch which for those that have seen it will have noticed that the hard work over the last few years has really paid off with a vast improvement being seen and is getting back to being one of the best in the area.
The club is professionally run and has always had first and a Reserve teams, and for the first time this season 2011-12 due to a vast increase in members have launched an ‘A’ team which play in Division 3 of the BNESL.

'A' Team

The first team are currently in the Premier Division of the BNESL which they have won on three occasions and been runners up six times, they have also been very successful in the cup’s and were crowned champions of Essex back in 2003-04.
The Reserve Team are in Division Two and have also had there successes along the way winning the Malcolm Foy Reserve Trophy on 3 occasions and 3 Divisional championships.
The club is always looking for support or sponsorship, currently Shalford Village Store sponsor the clubs ‘Management Team’ kits and four seasons ago Redrow Homes and Shalford Village Store provided support for the current kits, which will soon be in need of being replaced so hopefully they can find a local sponsor to help fund these.

If you feel that you want to find out more why not visit a training session at the Village Hall on a Tuesday evening (‘A’ team) or a Thursday evening (Reserves and 1st team) or give them some support and watch a match on Sunday mornings at 10.30 at the Village Hall.
