On Saturday at St Andrew’s Church in Shalford, Chelmsford Cathedral Choir gave a wonderful concert of music to a large enthusiastic audience

The unaccompanied Choir began the concert with Victimae Paschall Laudes then processed though the Church with  I Was Glad by Parry.   James Davy, their conductor chose a varied programme of music which portrayed the versatility of the singers with items featuring the Gentlemen of the choir and separate items highlighting the boy singers – their singing of Faure’s Pie Jesu from his Requiem was a highlight of the evening. The voices soared to the heights and probably beyond!

Organist Laurence Lyndon-Jones put the organ at St Andrew’s through its paces with two organ pieces one by Saints-Saëns

The final pieces performed were a lovely transcription of Psalm 23, followed by two choruses from Handel’s Messiah and the programme ended with a beautiful rendition of Ave Maria by Robert Parsons

The evening ended with the usual renowned FOSTAC drinks and nibbles for which we thank all who provided and helped with the refreshments

Our next event will be held on Saturday 25th June with a 'Come & Sing Faure Requiem' see more at >>www.fostac.co.uk<<
