Shalford has many miles of public rights of way consisting of footpaths, bridleways and byways. . Shalford Parish Council produced a footpath map available with a small donations [say £2.00] this has raised over £1,000 for children’s equipment at Shalford Village Hall.

Heart and Sole guided walks, now managed by Braintree District Voluntary Services Association, leave from the Freshwell Heath Centre, Finchingfield each Friday morning at 10.00am. . All are very welcome to join in. . The walks are free of charge, last approximately half an hour, and are led by an experienced leader.
