In 2011 unused land became available for purchase in the center of the village of Bures Hamlet. Through public donations enough funds were found to buy the land and to ensure it remained as a greensite in perpetuity. The Bures Common will be used as a facility for the whole village including fishing rights for village children.

We record a spoken version of the local paper each week – real people with real voices. We also record Minutes etc. for other charities for a small fee - which is reduced if they read it themselves. The Chelmsford German Circle has been in existence since September 1990. It meets on the first floor of the Moulsham Mill, Parkway Chelmsford at 8:00 p.m. on the third Thursday in the month. Meetings are mostly conducted in the German language. They're informal and include films, guest speakers, quizzes and other social events.
