The Baddow and Galleywood U3A is the local section of the UK-wide U3A - the University of the Third Age. This is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment.

The Society encourages the study and understanding of local history through winter lectures and summer excursions. Studies extend beyond the immediate locality and cover SE England and East Anglia.
Chelmsford is twinned with Backnang in Germany and Annonay in France. The Town Twinning association is a voluntary organisation set up to provide links with its twinned towns.

The Colchester Catalyst Charity aims to help relieve the sick and suffering by making a positive and ongoing contribution to the improvement of health care within the community of North-east Essex.
Our group is based in Colchester and runs activities aimed at supporting the practice of Insight Meditation.

There are at least a dozen Essex Saints from Saint Helen in the 3rd century until Saint John Payne in the 16th and one of Britain's first churches at Bradwell from 650AD. Essex has an impressive faith, history, geography and people from early history until today.
